A wedge wire filter is a welded steel structure used primarily for filtration, separation, and retention of unwanted substances from the process medium. A wedge wire filter consists of special shaped profiles, typically “V” profiles, attached to a support structure. The spacing between individual “V” profiles determines the resulting filtration fineness of the wedge wire filter. The flow direction of the process liquid is determined by the orientation of the shaped profiles relative to the support profiles.
Using wedge wire filters offers advantages such as:
low initial pressure drop
consistent slot width, ensuring the required filtration fineness throughout the service life of wedge wire filters
easy cleaning, either by wiping or backflushing
two-point contact between the particle and the slot, minimizing clogging of wedge wire filters
sufficient system rigidity thanks to the shaped profiles used and the welding technology
